ARE YOU CALM , HAPPY, HEALTHY?
It’s what we are all looking for, isn’t it?
My bio reads “I help 35+ women to feel calmer, healthier and happier without the need for medication, mediation* or diets!”
I was thinking about the ‘calmer, healthier and happier’ aims recently, and it occurred to me that you can’t actually have one without the others. Can you?
Think about it….
If you are stressed, and calm rarely features in your life, it is very unlikely that you are going to be either healthy or truly happy.
If you are unhealthy in your lifestyle, (poor food choices the majority of the time, lack of exercise and so on) you are very unlikely to feel happy in yourself, and your stress levels are likely to be high due to poor health choices (stress isn’t just mental stress, it can be physical too).
If you are unhappy, low mood, or even depressed, it is very unlikely that you will be making good healthy food choices, exercising regularly, and it is unlikely that you will be feeling calm.
So in order to achieve the thing that we are all ultimately searching for, that feeling of calm bliss, we have to look at our whole life, holistically. Just exercising and eating well, but still working ridiculously long hours, isn’t going to take you there. Meditating each morning, or doing regular yoga practice, isn’t going to get you there on its own either, though it can be extremely useful as part of self-care. Ultimately, if we are to achieve optimum health and happiness, it takes a 360 holistic approach.
What do you think? Do you agree? Are you eating well and exercising, but highly stressed? Or are you fairly relaxed and stress free but not taking care of your physical health? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
[* I’ve been asked a few times about the ‘meditation’ point and I’ll cover that in more depth in another post, but very quickly, what I mean by this is that I help people to feel calmer and happier without HAVING to meditate as a tool or technique… not that I have anything against meditation. I meditate myself; I love it. But I don’t NEED to do it in order to manage my stress levels.]
