Do you feel like you’re just existing… rather than actually living and loving your life?
You get through what you have to do each day (work, meals, housework, responsibilities) but anything beyond that feels difficult, or even impossible. 😕
Or perhaps you aren’t even able to do those basics without help anymore.
And the idea of doing something fun, social, or simply pleasurable feels like it’s a step too far, or completely out of reach.
It’s not just tiring… it’s depressing, demoralising, and can feel quite concerning. 😟
This can show up as:
avoiding going out unless you must
relying on online shopping for food and necessities
heading straight to bed after dinner
turning down invitations from friends and family
You might feel like you’re missing out on your own life, whilst watching your loved ones miss out too. And that brings a whole extra layer of guilt with it…
Then there’s work
You’re trying to keep it together, but deep down you worry you’re not performing like you used to.
That fear of being overlooked… or worse, replaced… sits quietly in the background, adding stress that you know is not helping your already exhausted body. 😮💨
If any of this hit a nerve, this is what I really want you to hear:
This is not a personal failure. And it’s not “just how things are now.”
In a world where pushing through is expected - especially for women in midlife - it’s no wonder you feel stuck, confused, and without answers.
But I also want you to know that things can change and improve. 🙌
When you address what’s actually underlying and driving your symptoms related to fatigue, it’s like getting your old life back, the one you feared you’d lost forever.
You feel clearer, more present, and more capable. You’re able to reconnect with your family and friends, you feel more confident at work, and most importantly… you can start enjoying life again. ☺️
Just like my client Denise who went from needing to nap every evening, and struggling daily in her senior role, to feeling sharp and on the ball again, back in control of her life, and able to do the things she loved.
In this post, I’m going to walk you through four key strategies that get to the root of your fatigue - so you can finally move forward.
Let’s dive right into it.
If your energy feels unpredictable, like you’re up and down throughout the day, or you hit a wall and don’t recover until the next day, your blood sugar is one of the first places to investigate.
Because at the most basic level, your body runs on glucose.
Glucose is the primary fuel for your brain, your nervous system, and every single cell in your body. 🔋
When that fuel supply is steady, your energy feels steady. You can think clearly, you have enough energy to do what you want or need to do without any thought, you feel more emotionally balanced, and your body doesn’t feel like it’s constantly running on fumes.
But for many people dealing with the symptoms of fatigue, that supply isn’t steady at all, and instead, it looks more like a rollercoaster.
Now, at this point, you might be thinking…
“But I’ve had my blood sugar checked and it was normal.”
And this is where things get a little confusing.
Because standard blood tests like HbA1c or fasting glucose are designed to pick up more advanced issues like diabetes… not the kind of day-to-day fluctuations that can leave you feeling exhausted, foggy, sleeping poorly and running on empty.
So it’s completely possible to be told everything looks “normal” on paper…
and still be dealing with blood sugar swings that are draining your energy throughout the day.
This is why so many people assume this can’t be their issue, when actually, it’s a very common contributor to the symptoms they’re experiencing.
So you might start the day with something quick - maybe just oats or toast, or granola, or a healthy smoothie. You feel a short burst of energy, and then strong hunger mid morning. So you reach for something else to pick you back up. ☕🍫
And this then repeats in the afternoon, with a pm slump that is only improved with something sweet or caffeine, and often in the evening too, usually accompanied by cravings for something sweet after supper.
And if you think nighttimes are unaffected, think again.
That waking multiple times in the night isn’t just your age (or just needing to pee, which is what so many women think it is)… that too can be the impact of dysregulated ‘roller-coaster’ blood sugar. 🎢
When your blood sugar swings from high to low, to high to low, your body has to step in to save you (low blood sugar is dangerous).
It releases stress hormones to bring your blood glucose back up to a safe level - even in the middle of the night.
And this is something most people don’t realise… every time your energy crashes, your body is burning through key minerals needed to actually produce energy in the first place (more on this shortly).
But this comes with problems…
If this is happening multiple times a day and night, your body is constantly responding to this stress.
Every blood sugar crash becomes another withdrawal from an already overdrawn energy account. Not to mention the nutrients needed for the process (more on that in Strategy 2).
Over time, this contributes to:
That wired-but-tired feeling
Mid-morning or afternoon energy crashes
Cravings for sweet stuff or coffee
Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
Irritability or low mood
Feeling anxious or overwhelmed for no clear reason
Poor sleep, even when you’re exhausted
This is why stabilising your blood sugar is such a powerful first step.
Energy that feels consistent, not fragile
Clearer thinking and better focus
A calmer, more balanced mood
Fewer cravings and less reliance on quick fixes
More physical and mental resilience
Better quality sleep
Steady blood glucose means your body no longer has to rely on emergency stress responses to keep you going.
It also creates the foundation for everything else we need to do.
Because if your blood sugar is unstable, you will continue to deplete minerals faster than you can replace them - which makes deeper recovery much harder.
This is why I always start here, not because it’s the only piece… but because it’s crucial to good health and it makes every other step more effective.
This doesn’t need to be complicated or restrictive. In fact, the simpler you keep it, the better.
Here are the key shifts that need to happen:
1. Build your meals properly 🍽️
Every meal should include:
A source of protein (such as eggs, chicken, fish, Greek yoghurt)
Healthy fats (such as olive oil, avocado, nuts, seeds)
Some slow release carbohydrates (such as whole grains, legumes, root vegetables
A variety of vegetables
2. Stop eating carbs on their own 🥪
Having toast, fruit, or something sugary by itself is one of the quickest ways to trigger a crash. Pair carbs with protein or fat to keep things stable.
3. Eat regularly 🕜
Skipping meals or going long periods without eating can push your blood sugar down, triggering that same stress response. Aim for consistent meal timings throughout the day.
4. Don’t rely on caffeine to carry you ☕
If coffee is your main source of energy, it’s often masking an underlying blood sugar issue. Try having it after food rather than on an empty stomach, and try to limit it to one a day
5. Start your day with a protein-rich breakfast 🥚
This sets the tone for your blood sugar for the rest of the day. Even a small, balanced breakfast is better than nothing.
We simplify blood sugar balance step by step, so it feels doable even when your energy is low. You’re not left trying to figure out what to eat, when to eat, or how to structure your day. You’re guided through it in a way that builds confidence and momentum.
And importantly, this is often where clients feel their first real shift.
They start to feel a bit more steady, a bit more clear, and a bit more in control.
But this first shift also tells us something important…
If stabilising your blood sugar helps, it usually means your body has been spending a lot of energy simply trying to keep you upright and functioning.
And that matters, because every time your body has to respond to a blood sugar crash, it uses up key minerals in the process.
So once we’ve steadied the fuel supply, the next question becomes:
Does your body actually have the raw materials it needs to create energy properly?
That’s where minerals come in...
If you’ve ever been told “everything looks normal” on your blood tests, but you feel anything but, this is so often the missing piece.
Because your body doesn’t just need calories to function.
It needs MINERALS. ✨
Minerals are involved in almost every single process that creates energy in your body. They support your nervous system, your hormones, your stress response, your metabolism, and your cells’ ability to actually produce energy.
A simple way to think about it is this:
Minerals are the spark plugs of your body.
You can have fuel in the tank - you can be eating well, even taking supplements - but if the spark plugs aren’t working, the engine doesn’t run. 🚘
And this is exactly what’s happening for the majority of people with chronic or persistent fatigue.
Most fatigued clients I work with are not just slightly low in minerals… they are significantly depleted in key minerals, and they are often extremely out of balance too. ⚖️
And yet, this is almost never picked up.
That’s because standard blood tests are a very poor reflection of what’s happening inside your cells, where energy is made and where many minerals are stored.
Blood tests show what’s circulating in the moment. But your body works hard to keep blood levels within a tight range, even if it means pulling minerals out of your tissues to do so.
So you can be told everything is “normal”…
...While your body is quietly running on mineral fumes.
When your minerals are low or out of balance, the effects show up everywhere, because they impact every system.
You might recognise this as:
Persistent exhaustion that sleep or rest doesn’t fix
Brain fog and poor concentration
Feeling flat, low, or unmotivated
Poor stress resilience where everything feels overwhelming
Disrupted or unrefreshing sleep
Slow recovery from physical or mental effort
Anxiety that doesn’t seem to have a clear cause
And importantly…
This is often the point where people start trying more things like better diets, random supplements, or cutting things out, but just don’t see results.
When you replenish the right minerals, in the right balance, you’re giving your body the raw materials it needs to function again.
Energy production improves. Your nervous system becomes more stable. Your stress response becomes less reactive. And your body starts to feel more resilient. 😌
And here’s where it gets even more powerful:
Minerals don’t work in isolation. They work together, in ratios and relationships.
This is why clients often notice improvements in multiple areas at once such as energy, mood, get up and go, sleep, and stress tolerance - because you’re supporting the system as a whole.
There are three key reasons this works when other things haven’t:
1. It addresses the root cause, not just symptoms
Rather than trying to “boost” energy temporarily, we’re rebuilding your body’s foundations, and thus its ability to create energy, whenever you need it. This is no short term fix.
2. It’s personalised, not guesswork
Taking random supplements or following generic advice often misses the mark. Your mineral status is unique to you, so it stands to reason, it should be treated as such.
3. It’s measurable
We’re not relying on how things “feel” alone because we can actually track progress and see your body rebuilding over time.
Minerals like magnesium, zinc, potassium, and sodium are required for hundreds of reactions in the body, especially those involved in energy production. ⚡
But modern life works against you:
Chronic stress increases mineral loss
Blood sugar instability (from strategy 1) depletes minerals further
Poor diet or digestion limits what you take in
Over time, this creates a gap between what your body needs and what it actually has available.
Hair Mineral Analysis helps us bridge that gap.
It shows your mineral levels and ratios over the past few months, giving a much more accurate picture of what’s happening inside your body than a single blood test could ever show.
Because this is where most people get stuck - doing all the “right” things, but without a plan tailored to what their body actually needs.
You complete a simple hair mineral test at the start
Your results are analysed in detail and mapped against your health questionnaire - no two clients are the same
We create a fully personalised mineral protocol based on your unique pattern
Your minerals are provided in a tailored formula
We retest to track progress
This isn’t a “take these supplements and hope for the best” approach.
It’s targeted, structured, and designed around you. 🫵
Without this step, your body simply doesn’t have the resources it needs to recover. You can eat well. You can rest. You can try to reduce stress.
But if the building blocks for energy aren’t there, your body can’t do what you’re asking of it. This is why so many people feel stuck.
And it’s also why, when this foundation is finally addressed properly, things start to shift in a way that feels undeniable.
Meaning lots more energy, much improved clarity and a feeling of resilience… Not overnight, but steadily, consistently, and in a way that lasts.
And for many people, this is the first time they realise…
💡 “Ohhh… this is what normal energy is supposed to feel like”
This is often the thing that makes people feel the most confused.
You’re making an effort. You’re eating better. You might even be taking supplements. And yet… nothing really seems to change.
If that sounds familiar, your gut could be the missing piece. 🧩
Because it’s not just about what you’re putting into your body, it’s about what your body is actually able to absorb and use.
Your gut is where nutrients are broken down, absorbed, and then delivered to your cells to be turned into energy, whether that’s from food or supplements.
So if that process isn’t working properly, even the best diet or supplement routine won’t give you the results you’re hoping for.
And this goes far beyond digestion.
Your gut is closely connected to your immune system, your mood, and your brain. It plays a key role in how you feel mentally and physically, and it’s constantly communicating with your nervous system. So when it’s under strain, the ripple effect can show up as low energy, poor focus, and that flat, unmotivated feeling so many people struggle with.
What makes this tricky is that gut issues don’t always show up in obvious ways.
For some people, there are clear digestive symptoms like indigestion, reflux, bloating or discomfort.
But for others, it’s much more subtle. It can look like eating well but still feeling exhausted, or taking supplements that don’t seem to do anything. You might notice your energy isn’t improving no matter what you try, or that you’re getting ill more often and not bouncing back as quickly.
At that point, it’s easy to assume nothing works for you.
But more often than not it’s that your body isn’t able to fully benefit from your efforts.
This is why supporting your gut can be such a turning point.
When digestion improves and absorption starts working properly again, your body can finally begin to use the nutrients you’re giving it.
The mineral work becomes more effective.
Your energy starts to feel more stable.
Your mind feels clearer.
And things that once felt like they weren’t working suddenly start to fall into place.
Inside The Fatigue Fix, this is where things start to shift - because your body is finally in a position to respond. By this stage, your blood sugar is already becoming more stable and your minerals are being replenished, which means your body is in a much better position to actually heal.
From there, we focus on improving digestion, supporting the gut environment, and reducing inflammation - so everything you’re doing can finally start working with your body, not against it.
For many clients, this is the moment where things begin to make sense.
They realise it wasn’t that they had failed before, it’s that their body simply wasn’t able to respond. And once that changes, everything else becomes far more effective.
Now you might be wondering why we would mineral balance before gut work?
And there is a very good reason for this.
Like everything in the body, the gut and digestion rely on minerals too, and so in order for effective healing, we need the right minerals that you are missing, in the right quantities, in order for the gut healing to work effectively.
By this point, we’ve laid the groundwork.
Your blood sugar is more stable.
Your minerals are being replenished.
Your gut is starting to function more effectively.
Next we can look at the systems that actually control your energy day to day: your adrenals and your thyroid.
These two systems act like your body’s energy regulators.
Your adrenal glands are responsible for how you respond to stress and how your energy is managed moment to moment.
Your thyroid, on the other hand, controls your metabolic rate - essentially how quickly or slowly your body runs.
When both are working well, your energy can feel steady, reliable, and sustainable.
But when they’re under strain, which is incredibly common in midlife, everything starts to feel harder.
Energy becomes unpredictable.
You might feel okay one minute and completely wiped out the next.
Sleep doesn’t feel restorative, no matter how early you go to bed.
Motivation drops, and even simple tasks can start to feel like a lot.
This is the result of your body being under prolonged stress for too long.
The general demands and stresses of modern life place pressure on your adrenal glands. Add in blood sugar dysregulation and mineral depletion and over time, this can disrupt how your body produces and regulates cortisol - your master stress hormone.
And when cortisol becomes dysregulated, it has a knock-on effect on your thyroid.
Your thyroid relies on a stable internal environment to function properly. When that environment is disrupted, thyroid hormone activity can slow down, which directly impacts your energy, metabolism, and mental clarity.
This is why so many people feel like they’ve “lost their spark.” It’s not a lack of willpower. It’s a system that’s been pushed out of balance.
The good news is that when you support these systems properly, things can begin to shift in a very noticeable way.
Your energy becomes more consistent, you start to feel more resilient to stress, and your body finally feels like it’s working with you again, rather than constantly struggling to keep up.
But this is the key part, and it’s where many go wrong:
Trying to support your adrenals or thyroid without addressing blood sugar, minerals, and gut health first often doesn’t work.
Because these systems are deeply dependent on these foundations we’ve already talked about.
They need stable fuel, they need the right nutrients and they need an environment where the body isn’t constantly in stress mode.
That’s why, inside The Fatigue Fix, we don’t jump straight to this step. We layer it in at the right time - because this is where deeper, long-term recovery really starts to happen.
From there, we can provide extra targeted, personalised support, rather than guessing or applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
This is where recovery starts to feel deeper and more stable and long lasting. Not just short bursts of energy… but a sense that your body is rebuilding its capacity properly.
And that’s what allows you to move from just getting through the day… to actually feeling like yourself again.
If you’re thinking:
“I can barely get through the day so how am I supposed to do all of this?” 🤷🏽♀️
Or:
“I’ve already tried eating better and taking supplements… nothing worked.”
You’re not wrong to feel that way. But here’s the difference:
You’re not expected to figure this out alone.
Inside The Fatigue Fix, everything is broken down into simple, manageable steps, done in the right order, with support the whole way through. And that changes everything.
If you’re constantly exhausted, foggy, flat, and just getting through the day, it’s not because you’re not trying hard enough. In fact, the opposite is usually true.
You’re pushing through, showing up, trying desperately to hold everything together, even when your energy isn’t there.
The reality is, this kind of fatigue isn’t caused by one single thing.
Your blood sugar is swinging up and down, putting your body into repeated stress responses.
Your minerals are depleted, leaving you without the resources needed to produce energy.
Your gut may not be absorbing properly, so even your best efforts aren’t landing.
And over time, your adrenal glands and thyroid - your energy control systems - begin to struggle too, but when you start addressing these areas, in the right order, things begin to change.
Your energy becomes more stable, your mind feels clearer, and things stop feeling quite so hard. You might notice you’re not heading straight to bed after dinner, and saying yes to plans feels possible again.
Work feels more manageable, and that constant underlying worry starts to ease.
And bit by bit, you start to feel like yourself again, with the energy and space to enjoy your life. 🤸
Inside The Fatigue Fix, I guide you through the exact process we’ve talked about in this post - step by step, in the right order, and with support throughout.
We work together to:
✔️ Stabilise your blood sugar and reduce the daily energy crashes
✔️ Rebuild depleted minerals with personalised support
